97) Changeless by Gail Carriger

Blurb -

Alexia Tarabotti, the Lady Woolsey, awakens in the wee hours of the mid-afternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. Then he disappears - leaving her to deal with a regiment of supernatural soldiers encamped on her doorstep, a plethora of exorcised ghosts, and an angry Queen Victoria.

But Alexia is armed with her trusty parasol, the latest fashions, and an arsenal of biting civility. Even when her investigations take her to Scotland, the backwater of ugly waistcoats, she is prepared: upending werewolf pack dynamics as only the soulless can.

She might even find time to track down her wayward husband, if she feels like it.

What I Thought -

Wonderful! Just wonderful! I am not a big fan of historical set books but this series is really tickling my fancy. Victorian England of course appeals to me seeing as I am British but the witty paranormal element just has me loving Alexia and the other characters in this fantastic series.

Changeless builds on the foundation that was laid out in the debut book Soulless. The depth and detail has to be applauded! I really do feel like I am in Victorian England. Now I can't wait for the third book Blameless to come out in September. What can Alexia find herself mixed up in next? How many ways will she manage to annoy her husband and what kind of hats will Miss Hisselpenny dare to wear in public this time?

I have to say that this series is extremely addictive and I found myself grabbing for the book at every spare moment I could find. The author has created something special and different while making this appeal to many different genre readers. A great recipe of cozy mystery stirred in with a bit of historical, a healthy dollop of paranormal and a garnish of romance makes this a very tasty treat. There is something for everyone here and this series is now on my must buy list.

I heard so much good about this series. That's one out of romance that I do read, historical mysteries! I love Shirley Tallman, Victoria Thompson and Ashley Gardner and Robin Paige (hers are done in her series). I guess its because I so love historical romances and that Regency, Victorian, Turn of the Century US settings (not sure what that time period is called) and too, not sure of the time period called, but early 1920's or so of Carola Dunn's Daisy Dalrymple series (that's the only one I read so far in that time period). I love chatting historical romance and historical mysteries. So my next trip to bookstore, I need to get this series!

Online cash loans are becoming the new wave of the future and more and more people are applying if only to establish themselves with one of these services in case of an emergency. So if you find yourself short of cash and need that "little extra" consider an online cash loan.
