This week my guest is author Jennifer Estep!

Read all about her latest release in the Elemental Assassin Series, Spider's Revenge and her short Mythos Academy story that appears in the amazing anthology Entangled.

Also make sure you enter the contest! Jennifer is giving away a copy of Spider's Revenge and I am giving away a winners choice book! You have till Sunday to enter!

Below are some extra interview questions about Entangled! Enjoy!

----------------------------

Q: Tell us about Entangled.

A: Entangled includes ten suspense-filled paranormal stories from authors Lori Brighton, Michelle Diener, Cynthia Eden, Jennifer Estep, Misty Evans, Nancy Haddock, Liz Kreger, Dale Mayer, Michelle Miles, and Edie Ramer, plus a brand new Seven Deadly Sins novella by Allison Brennan. Stacia Kane contributed the foreword and the book’s formatting and cover art were also donated to the project by Lori Devoti and Laura Morrigan. All proceeds from the sale of Entangled will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Q: Are the stories connected?

A: The anthology has a Halloween theme, so the stories all have Halloween elements in them.

Q: Are they all one genre?

A: All the stories paranormal, but some are heavier on suspense, while others have more romance. We even have a young adult story by Jennifer Estep that’s related to her Mythos Academy series.

Q: How did you all come up with the decision to do this book? Who initiated it and how did you all get together?

A: Edie Ramer and Misty Evans wanted to do a collaboration together, and over three or four emails earlier this year, they decided to do a paranormal anthology of short stories and have the proceeds go to breast cancer. They invited authors whose books they read and enjoyed, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

Q: Tell us more about the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

A: BCRF-funded research has helped save lives and improved the quality of care and rate of survival for tens of thousands of breast cancer patients in the past decade. Their research has revealed that the "cure" is a mosaic made up of as many approaches to diagnosing, treating, preventing and surviving as there are different types of breast cancer. The anthology is also a mosaic made up of many stories donated for this worthwhile cause.

Q: Is there a time limit on purchasing Entangled so the proceeds go to the BCRF?

A: Entangled will available for at least a year and all proceeds will go to BCRF, no matter when it’s purchased. After a year, if it’s still selling well, we’ll keep it available, and again, all proceeds will go to BCRF.

Q: How much will the ebook cost?

A: Entangled will be discounted to $2.99 during September and October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. After that the price will go up to $3.99. For stories of this caliber, it’s a fantastic deal at either price.

Q: Can people donate to the cause even if they can’t or don’t want to purchase Entangled?

A: Absolutely. Go to http://www.bcrfcure.org to make a donation in your name, or in the name of someone you know who’s been touched by breast cancer.

The Blurb :

He roams the moonlit wilderness, his every sense and instinct on high alert. Changeling wolf Connor Macleod and his Pack have never feared anything—until the night human Zoey Tyler barely escapes a rogue werewolf's vicious attack.

As the full moon approaches, Zoey has no idea of the changes that are coming, and only Connor can show her what she is, and help her master the wildness inside. With her initiation into the Pack just days away and a terrifying predator on the loose, the tentative bonds of trust and tenderness are their only weapons against a force red in tooth, claw. . .and ultimate evil

My Thoughts :

There is no shortage of shapeshifter romances and I have to admit I went into Changeling Moon thinking I would give up after a few chapters. It turned out that the characters were too nice to leave and the concept way too interesting to stop reading. I found myself finishing the book within record time and enjoying every moment of it.

With such great leading characters and a nice cast of supporting family & pack members, Changeling Moon was a welcoming and comfortable story to curl up with. The plot was exciting and there were a few good twists but I think the concept was what kept me reading. Of course the whole romance and relationship between Connor and Zoey had me hooked as well but the writing style and feeling of the book wouldn't let me go till the end.

If you liked Lori Handeland's Nightcreature series then this is a must read. If you just like werewolves, romance and some action then you can't go wrong with this book either! I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series and wonder which characters will get a story and what new angles the author can think up to keep this series fresh and readable.

The Blurb :

In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .

Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.

The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it—no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .

My Thoughts :

The sixth book in the Georgina Kincaid series has been a long time coming. I have been patiently waiting for another look in the life of my favourite succubus and I am glad it has finally come. I hadn't checked but I was pretty sure this was going to be the last in the series. I decided to let myself be surprised but all the way through the book it just felt like the end was coming. I am sad to see Georgina go but Richelle Mead has quite a few other projects going on and a new baby so it was clear that one series had to go.

Nothing was wrong with this book. It was a perfect end to an excellent series. Georgina was stunning as always and Seth behaved as I expected him to. The other characters I have come to know and enjoy throughout the series all played their parts well and the plot was surprising and somehow exactly what I was expecting. I finished this in record time and couldn't get enough.

I have been with Georgina since the beginning and therefore with Richelle as well. This is the series that got her started and it is the one I will always love the most. I can't believe that this is the last book. Every one of the six books in the series have been amazing and always a must buy. Now it is sad to see Georgina's story coming to an end but to what end I will not tell you! Go out and read the series if you haven't already. This is one that isn't to be missed.

The Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series is one of my favourite series of all time! Jennifer Estep the writer of this spectacular series has also become one of my favourite authors.

The fifth part in the Elemental Assassin series, Spider's Revenge, releases this week and if you are a fan of the books your really don't want to miss it!

So I invited Jennifer over to Amberkatze's Book Blog to talk about her new release, her Young Adult series and the short story she contributed to the lovely Entangled anthology.

I hope you all enjoy the interview! Make sure you enter the contest for your chance to win a copy of Spider's Revenge!

----------------------------

Amber - Hello Jennifer! Welcome back to Amberkatze's Book Blog! It is great to have you back here again to talk about the fifth book in your Elemental Assassins series. Can you start things off by telling us a little about Spider's Revenge?

Jennifer – Hi, Amber! I’m glad to be here.

Of course. Spider’s Revenge is the fifth book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series, and it will be published on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The books focus on Gin Blanco, an assas¬sin code-named the Spi¬der who can con¬trol the ele¬ments of Ice and Stone. When she’s not busy killing peo¬ple and right¬ing wrongs, Gin runs a bar¬be¬cue restau¬rant called the Pork Pit in the fic¬tional South¬ern metrop¬o¬lis of Ash¬land. The city is also home to giants, dwarves, vam¬pires, and ele¬men-tals – Air, Fire, Ice, and Stone. Other books in the series are Spider’s Bite, Web of Lies, Venom, and Tangled Threads.

In Spider’s Revenge, Gin has to deal with various bounty hunters who have come to Ashland to track down and kill the Spider on the orders of Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who killed Gin’s family when Gin was a kid. There’s a lot of action and magic in the book, along with some romance.

Amber - Spider's Revenge, as a title, already seems to be hinting at the contents of this fifth part in the series. So the big question is for the fans...Does Gin go after Mab? Will Mab finally get what she deserves?

Jennifer – Yes, the title is pretty accurate. Basically, Gin and Mab have their big showdown in this book, and a lot of the various story threads and questions are tied up and answered. As for Mab getting what she deserves, I think readers will be happy with how things turn out. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Amber - So is this the last book of Gin? Is Spider's Revenge the end of the series?

Jennifer – I’m happy to say that I’ll be writing at least two more books about Gin. By a Thread, the sixth book, will be out in March 2012, and the seventh book (untitled at this point) is tentatively set to be released in August 2012. I hope to write even more books about Gin beyond those two. I think there are still a lot of bad guys for her to take on.

Amber - When you started writing this series did you think it would keep going this long? Do you actually have an ending planned for Gin?

Jennifer – I thought the series had a lot of potential, but I’ve been really flattered by the reader response to Gin and all the interest in the books. I do have some ideas for where I want Gin to ultimately end up, but I hope to be writing about her for a long time to come.

Amber - While reading Spider's Revenge I wondered what it would be like to read about things from the other characters perspectives. Maybe even start a spin off or have some novellas using one of the other characters. Any plans to do something like that? I would love to see Finn's or Roslyn's side of things.

Jennifer – Actually, I’ve written several free short stories from the other characters’ points of view. There are stories from Finn, Jo-Jo, Sophia, Bria, and Fletcher’s points of view on the Excerpts page of my website: http://www.jenniferestep.com/excerpts-short-stories/

So far, folks seem to be enjoying the stories and seeing the world of Ashland through the other characters’ eyes and following their various adventures.

Amber - You also have a paranormal YA series out. What can you tell us about that?

Jennifer – I also write the Mythos Acad¬emy young adult urban fan¬tasy series. The books focus on Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychom¬e¬try, or the abil¬ity to know an object’s his¬tory just by touch¬ing it. After a seri¬ous freak-out with her magic, Gwen is shipped off to Mythos Acad¬emy, a school for the descen¬dants of ancient war¬riors like Spar¬tans, Valkyries, Ama¬zons, and more.Basically, the series is about myths, magic, monsters, and mean girls.

Touch of Frost, the first book in the series, was published in August. First Frost, a prequel e-story to the series, is also available now as a 99-cent download.

Amber - How long does it take you to write a complete book? Is it harder to give your full attention to one story now that you are writing two different series?

Jennifer – I can usually write a book in three to four months. When you add in things like revisions, copy edits, and page proofs, it probably takes me about six to eight months to get everything done.

Not really. I only work on one book project at a time – that’s just the way that I like to work. So whatever book I’m working on at the moment has my full attention.Plus, I like switching back and forth between the two series. The Elemental Assassin books are really dark and gritty, and the Mythos Academy books are a little lighter, so it’s a good mix and a nice change of pace for me to go from one to the other and back again.

Amber - What is up next? Any new projects? Any release dates you can share with us?

Jennifer – Like I mentioned before, By a Thread will be out in March 2012, and the seventh Elemental Assassin book is tentatively scheduled for an August 2012 release.

Also, Kiss of Frost, the second book in my Mythos Academy series, will be out on Nov. 29, 2011, and Dark Frost, the third book, will be out in June 2012.

Folks can get more information about all my books on my website.

Amber - I heard you have a short story coming out in a new anthology called Entangled? What story have you contributed?

Jennifer – My story is called Halloween Frost, and it’s set in the world of my Mythos Academy series after the events of Touch of Frost, the first book in the series. In the story, it’s Halloween at Mythos Academy, but Gwen and her friends are in for more tricks than treats when they run into a mythological monster intent on killing them.

Amber - All the proceeds for Entangled is going to breast cancer research. Is this a cause that is close to your heart?

Jennifer – It is. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor, and I wanted to write a story for this anthology to honor her strength and spirit, as well as everyone else who’s struggled with or been affected by the disease. Here’s hoping for a cure – the sooner, the better.

Amber - How did the anthology come about? Did you get to meet up with the other authors involved?

Jennifer – I’m friends with Edie Ramer, another author in the anthology. She asked me to participate, and I was happy to say yes. I’ve gotten to meet some of the other authors in the anthology, including Liz Kreger and Michelle Diener, and I’ve emailed with some of the other authors. They’re all lovely ladies, and it’s been a really fun project to work on.

Amber - How do you relax when you aren't writing?

Jennifer –I love to hang out with my family and friends, read, and watch TV and movies.

Amber - Have you read or watched anything great lately that you would like to recommend to us?

Jennifer – I watch way too much TV, so I’m excited about the start of the fall television season. Some of my favorite shows are NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, The Good Wife, and How I Met Your Mother.

Amber - If you could spend a day with anyone famous, alive or dead, who would you spend your day with?

Jennifer – Hmm. That’s a tough one. I think it would be cool to hang out with someone like J.K. Rowling and just talk about writing.

Amber - Thank you for being a guest again!

Jennifer – Thanks for having me on the blog again. I appreciate it.

The bLurb :

Graffiti comes to life in the dark heart of Atlanta’s oldest cemetery, slaying one of the city’s best loved vampires before the eyes of his friend Dakota Frost. Deadly magick is at work on the city’s walls, challenging even the amazing power of Dakota’s tattoos to contain it. The hungry, graffiti magick loves to kill, and the Edgeworld is no longer safe from its own kind.

Dakota begins a harrowing journey to save those she loves and to discover the truth behind the spreading graffiti-even if that truth offends the vampires, alienates the werekin and creates police suspicion of her every action.

Saving Atlanta may cost her everything, including custody of her “adopted” weretiger daughter, Cinnamon. But failure is not an option. If the graffiti isn’t stopped, Cinnamon could be the next victim.

My Review :

I really loved the debut in this series, Frost Moon, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the second book. The unusual and unique concept that caught my interest in Frost Moon was quickly reignited within the first few pages. Graffiti magick was not where I expected things to go but it was a shocking and exciting surprise. I was hooked and couldn't wait to see how things played out.

However as the story unfolded I found myself wondering when things would finally come to an end. It seemed like the story was dragging and every time I thought the end was near something else happened to keep it going. By the last quarter of the book I was ready to just give up. With so many characters involved I was confused and tired. It was hard to keep up with who was who and what was happening altogether. Such a promising start dived into a bit of a mess.

I do however have to give the author a huge thumbs up where concept is involved. There is nothing wrong with the whole Skindancer idea and I love the paranormals he has created. I also have to add that I love Dakota and Cinnamon. They are amazing characters and they will suck me into trying book number three when it comes out.

Yes, I will keep checking out this series. This second book may have been a slight disappointment towards the end but it has some very huge plus points in its favour. So while I won't rush to read book three when it releases, I will still find a copy eventually and read it. Maybe this second book was just the bad apple. It happens often enough.

To round this one up. A great concept, super characters and the paranormal elements make this worthy of reading. However this second part isn't as good as the first and despite a superb first half the second half was too full, long and confusing. Worth checking out but make sure you have time to read this.

The blurb :

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be . . . kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.

So much for normal.

My Review :

Paranormalcy has got to be one of the best audio books I listened to over the last year. So there was no stopping me from using my audible.com credit last month to get the sequel, Supernaturally. I couldn't wait to see what was going on in Evie's life. Is it everything she wished for?

Well the answer is no. Without the IPCA she is pretty bored. Sure school has lockers but it is nothing like her favourite High School TV show. So of course when trouble and excitement arrives in the form of Jack, she is pulled in. Jack isn't a lovable character but he is fun to read about. He did get on my nerves, and Evie's, but all in all he made things a little bit more interesting.

I missed Lend in this book though. Evie's boyfriend and love of her life always seemed to be busy with school. His appearances usually coincided with Evie getting into some kind of trouble and him getting mad with her which got a little tiring after a while. However I did really enjoy getting to know Arianna. I hope Evie has more time to spend with her vampire room mate in the future.

What really made this story special was finding out more about Evie and where she came from. Finally we get some solid information about where she came from and there is certainly space in future books to expand on the whole parents issue. I just hope that one day the poor girl gets a place to call home. I have to say it was pretty sad to realise Evie didn't have somewhere she felt like she belonged.

All in all this was a good sequel. Not as amazing as the first book but still totally original and worth reading. Not too lovey dovey or over the top, this series is one I am really enjoying. It maybe Young Adult but it isn't childish. Although I hope Evie stops bleeping using bleeps because she is really quite grown up and it isn't like she has any parents around who will ground her for swearing.

I am not a huge faery fan but this series is definitely one I can live with. After all there are more paranormal delights in this series other than the fae. I am looking forward to the third part, Endlessly, and can't wait to get it on audio. It is a nice series to listen to and I am even starting to like the narrators voice. It suits Evie somehow.

My author guest this week is Lynda Hilburn.

I loved her novel THE VAMPIRE SHRINK and the expanded/revised version of the book is coming out in the UK this month and in the USA in April, 2012.

Lynda is a big Paranormal blogger and her previous jobs include being a rock-and-roll singer/musician, a professional psychic/tarot reader, a licensed psychotherapist, a certified clinical hypnotherapist, a newspaper columnist, a university instructor and a fiction writer.

So I hope you enjoy getting to know this wonderful author! Also if you didn't read The Vampire Shrink way back when, then pick up a copy now. It is an unforgettable read!

Make sure you enter this weeks contest! Lynda is giving away one of her books and a CD!

------------------------

Amber - Welcome to Amberkatze's Book Blog! It is great to have you here as a guest! Could you start things off by telling us a little about your amazing book The Vampire Shrink?

Lynda - The Vampire Shrink is the story of what happens to nerdy, introverted psychologist Kismet Knight when she discovers the vampire-wannabe group she's exploring isn't so "wannabe." Turns out Denver is loaded with the real deal. She meets a gorgeous, 800-year-old bloodsucker, an obsessed FBI profiler, a lost young woman, a serial killer and hoards of neurotic vampires. Just another day in Undead Oz!

Amber - How did you come up with the idea for The Vampire Shrink? Was it a slow process or did it just come to you?

Lynda - The idea for this particular book came from a client session. Like my main female character, I'm also a psychotherapist. One day in 2004 I was listening to a young client talk about wanting to join a non-human group (aliens, in this case) and some of her words reminded me of the various vampire books I read (I've been a vampire fan since childhood). I thought about how interesting it would be to walk out to my waiting room and find a gorgeous vampire sitting there. I went home that night and started typing. I had no idea I'd still be talking about the book all these years later!

Amber - Now I read The Vampire Shrink and the sequel, Dark Harvest, a long time ago when it first came out. Why is The Vampire Shrink being re-released?

Lynda - The Vampire Shrink has had three incarnations now. It was first published (along with what used to be the second book in the series, formerly called Dark Harvest) in 2007 by a small publisher. Then, thanks to my agent keeping the e-book rights for me, I was able to self-publish the two books on Kindle and BN.com, where they became best sellers. That caused me to come to the attention of my new agent, who told me he was certain he could sell my series to a large publisher. He got me a 3-book deal with Quercus in the UK (the same publisher who originally released Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Sterling Publishing/Silver Oak (Barnes & Noble) in the USA. So, The Vampire Shrink has risen from the ashes yet again! The UK version released Sept. 1 and the USA version will be published April, 2012.

Amber - So is this new version of the The Vampire Shrink different? Do I need to pick up a copy of the new release?

Lynda - The most excellent thing about all this is that I was able to make all the changes to the original book I wished I could! I read back on some of the early feedback and made the book better. I also got to add lots of pages. It's around 450 pages now! I will have the USA publisher send you a copy. They will have their own cover.

Amber - Did you want to change anything in The Vampire Shrink? Was it hard to go back to it?

Lynda - I don't think I ever left it! I've been doing edits and rewrites on it ever since it came out originally. But I think, after the UK and USA versions come out, that will be the last rewrite for me on this particular book! I do look forward to seeing what else I can write!

Amber - Will Dark Harvest also be re-released? Will there ever be a third Kismet Knight book?

Lynda - My editor at Quercus, Jo Fletcher, said she thought Dark Harvest jumped too far ahead in the series arc. I did that on purpose because my first publisher and I had come to a parting of the ways, and I'd been told by all the agents I spoke with that it was "impossible" to move a series from one publishing house to another. So, I thought I was just closing up some loose ends with Dark Harvest and that I'd write a third book to finish out the series and publish it on my own.

But since Dark Harvest isn't going to be book #2, Jo asked me to write a brand new book. So I'm in the midst of writing the new book #2, Blood Therapy. It takes place immediately after the end of The Vampire Shrink. Things aren't all smooth for Kismet and Devereux as a couple. Dark Harvest will have to be rewritten because I've made so many changes to the characters and plot in book 2 that it won't fly anymore as it is. But I hope to be able to use most of it. I don't know if it will be book #3 or #4.

Amber - Was it hard writing from the perspective of a Psychologist? Did you have to do a lot of research to be Kismet?

Lynda - No. It's easy. She's an idealized version of me. She's younger, prettier, thinner and having lots more fun, but all the psychology parts are just me. Her clients are much more interesting than mine, but therapy is therapy!

Amber - How do you pick the names for your characters? Do they have any special meanings?

Lynda - Kismet has always been one of my favorite words. When I was young, I saw the musical at a gorgeous theater in downtown Detroit. It captivated me. When I started writing this book, the word Kismet nagged at me until I used it for my main character. None of the other names had any special meaning. I wanted to find a European name that could be very old, yet not necessarily associated with any particular country. Devereux claims to be from a secret, still-existing Druid group. Hey. If there can be hidden Druids, one can be called Devereux.

Amber - What's next? Are you working on any other projects?

Lynda - I'm trying to meet my deadline (which is flexible, thank heavens) for book #2, Blood Therapy. Then I'll have to jump into the rewrite of book #3. I really would love to experiment, but my contract specifies I can't work on anything else until the 3 books are turned in.

Amber - A lot of authors have 'soundtracks' for their books. Is there any music influenced your books?

Lynda - Unfortunately, since I'm a musician/singer, music distracts me. I just float away on the notes instead of writing. My vampires -- especially Devereux, who is stuck in the past -- probably would resonate to heavy, intense classical music. Sarah Brightman's Figlio Perduto on La Luna reminds me of some of the dark, angsty vampires I've read.

Amber - What have you been reading and watching lately?

Lynda - I read a lot of psychological thrillers, romantic suspense, vampire books, psychology books. I just finished the latest Dexter book. I'm a fan of the books and the TV show. Who knew a psychopathic serial killer could be so interesting?

Amber - If you could be any paranormal creature, what would you be and why?

Lynda - That's a tough one. I usually think I'd like to be a vampire, but the truth is I hate the sight of blood. And I don't think immortality is all it's cracked up to be. Maybe I'd be some creature I'd design myself. One that could live as long as it truly wished to, be able to read minds, become invisible, move via thought, eat anything without gaining a pound. LOL. I don't know if such a creature could exist!

The Blurb :

Talk about wedding crashers from hell. Keira Kelly and her sexy vampire king, Adam, are about to tie the proverbial knot—sort of—when an uninvited blood relative shows up to cast a long, dark shadow over the happy occasion. Adam’s brother Gideon comes bearing the one-size-fits-all gift of bad news: an ancient, convoluted Challenge thrown down upon the entire Kelly clan. It seems the dreaded forces of the Dark Fae have declared war on Keira’s family, and at stake is the land that is rightfully theirs.

But while the Kellys gather their troops in a historic San Antonio hotel to strategize, there’s mayhem back in Rio Seco. The old cemetery is vandalized, fires break out, and—worst of all—the Kelly clan matriarch and leader, Keira’s great-great-grandmother Minerva, goes missing. Should Keira risk breaking the Challenge rules by returning to her beloved home, or should she continue the waiting game that seems the only other option? With everything she loves and maybe even her life on the line, she has only one chance to get the answer right.

My Review :

Blood Sacrifice is the fifth book in the Blood Lines series and most likely the last (see interview with Maria) so I couldn't wait to delve into this one. I have been following the series since the beginning and have had a slight influence on the Welsh used in the books. This is a series that really has a special place on my shelf and I have to say I am not happy that it has come to an end.

This book is all about politics and cleaning up house. With everything that has gone on since the beginning, Blood Sacrifice goes about its business of clearing up all the little bits and pieces and packing some punches along the way. There is never a slow moment in this book and there is always something going on. I felt like if I blinked I would miss something important there was so much happening. It was pure paranormal action and it was lovely.

I have always liked Keira and this book made me like her even more. She is an amazing woman and I can only hope that the author does get to continue this series somehow because I want to see what else Keira gets up to. The end of Blood Sacrifice doesn't end things for good and there are few questions I still want to see answered - like how Bea's baby turns out!

Any fans of the series will enjoy this fifth installment and beg for more. Anyone who hasn't tried the books yet now has the chance to buy them all and read them in one delicious bite. I will now wait and hope that more Keira stories come along or maybe this great author will delight us with something new. Either way a must read author.

The Blurb :

As a bounty hunter, Anna Strong knew how to find trouble. But now that she's a vampire, trouble seems to have a knack for finding her...

The death of Anna's old vampire mentor is causing ripples in the mortal world. His forensic report has brought up some anomalies and people are asking questions-questions that no vampire wants to answer. Anna needs to lie low, but the sudden discovery of a slew of drained bodies near the Mexican border brings an old flame back into her life and with him, a new challenge. Then, some stunning news from an unexpected source sends Anna and her friend Daniel Frey on a journey that may change both their lives-forever.

My Review :

Seven books into the Anna Strong Chronicles and I still can't get enough of this series! The year long wait for the next in the series is torture but I love catching up with Anna when the time comes. This time around Anna doesn't stay in her usual haunts but travels off with Frey to help protect his son. It is a story arc I didn't see coming but I absolutely loved it.

In Crossroads Anna has some huge decisions to make. One of them revolves around the fact that there could be someone who would be able to make her human again. Her struggle to decide what to do makes for great reading and her actual decisions are no surprise. Anna maybe a vampire and the Chosen one but she has still managed to keep her human side. Each new story and the things Anna goes through in the series only makes me love her more.

Anna is best friend material. She shows this in her loyalty to her many friends and even in her behaviour towards Frey's son. I would love to sit down and drink a few glasses of wine on a Friday night with Anna. She has a great personality, manner and ideals. I envy her and would love to be more like her. There is nothing fake about this character and the others in the books. You can really sit down and relax when reading them and not feel like things are going over the top.

If you haven't already tried this series then do so. If you are already a fan then don't wait too long to pick Crossroads up. Jeanne Stein always writes a great story and I can't wait to see what happens next. Such a shame that the books only come out once a year. I would love to see Anna more often. This series is a must buy and read for me and I can only continue to highly recommend it.

A couple of weeks ago I got an email from author Nancy Haddock. This isn't an unusual occurrence as we have been emailing each other on a pretty regular basis for a few years now. However this email was different. This email made me jump for joy. Not only was Nancy contributing a short story to an anthology but the best part was all the proceeds for the book is going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

To know that some of my favourite authors have come together to do something so amazing really made me proud. I could only show my support by reviewing Entangled and offering to make a special event for the book to celebrate the release!

Everyone has a story to tell when it comes to breast cancer. My grandmother fought breast cancer and like all women should, I get myself screened and check myself in the shower regularly. It may just be another disease but hopefully one day there will be a cure. Buying Entangled could help bring this cure closer and it is a great read as well!

So I hope you enjoy the following insight to how the anthology Entangled got made. Edie Ramer, Misty Evans and Nancy Haddock all talk about why and how the book came about and what it meant to them to be a part of it.

Also make sure you enter the contest at the end of the event! You could win a copy of Entangled!

-------------------

Edie Ramer:

Last April, I emailed Misty and casually mentioned that I’d like to set up a short story anthology and give the money to a charity. I'd like to do a lot of things some day--clean all my closets, visit Europe for a summer and Australia for a winter. But Misty isn't a "some day" type of person. She's a "today" type. She emailed me back and said, "Let's do it." I said okay, and we were off and running.

Misty Evans:

Edie and I are in a couple of groups together and I’ve always been wowed by her mad writing and people skills. When she suggested we put together an anthology with proceeds going to charity, I jumped on the opportunity.

Edie Ramer:

It happened so fast and so smoothly, I'm a bit awed. Misty and I both write paranormal romance, so that was an easy pick. She chose the Halloween theme to unify the stories. I'm a breast cancer survivor, and one of my critique partners has been fighting breast cancer for fifteen years. She's my hero. That was my choice for the charity, and Misty immediately agreed.

Misty Evans:

I lost an aunt to breast cancer, and one of my childhood friends recently went through a double mastectomy. When I worked in health care, I managed a breast and cervical cancer screening program for women without insurance, and saw how desperate the need was for more screenings, education and research. Breast cancer affects so many of us, it’s a cause near and dear to our hearts.

Edie Ramer:

I think that the charity was the reason so many amazing writers signed on for this. Every writer has been wonderful to work with, and each has written a fantastic story. I'm very proud of what we've done.

Misty Evans:

Along with all the great stories that were donated, Stacia Kane contributed the foreword, Laura Morrigan created the cover art, and Lori Devoti provided formatting.

Nancy Haddock:

Edie and Misty are cherished friends, so I would have jumped at any project for any cause they spearheaded. But breast cancer – along with other cancers – runs in my family. I also have sisters-of-the-heart who are triumphing over the disease including a sister-in-law and numerous writer friends. Breast cancer is personal.

So, when Misty invited me to the project, my first thought was, “I’m so there!” My second thought was, “Can I write a short story?” Yikes! I’d not turned my hand to short stories since college, but the anthology was important enough to give it my best shot. As it happens, I’m pleased with my story contribution, and tickled silly to be in company with such amazing authors. My personal thanks to everyone who donated time and talent to the anthology, and my eternal gratitude to all those readers who by it!!

Edie’s bio:

A multiple award-winning writer, Edie is also a bestselling Kindle author. Tory, Sorcha, and Max from THE FAT CAT were first seen in Edie’s book CATTITUDE. To find out more about Edie and her paranormal romances, visit Edie, like her Facebook page, and follow her on Twitter and Google+.

Misty’s bio:

Misty Evans writes the award-winning Super Agent series, Witches Anonymous series, and now her new Kali Sweet series. She likes her coffee black, her conspiracy stories juicy, and her wicked characters dressed in couture. Learn more about Misty and her books. Like her author page on Facebook or follow her on Twitter.

Nancy’s bio:

Nancy Haddock is the award-winning and national bestselling author of the “Oldest City Vampire” series. Her short story for the anthology, Entangled, is also set in St. Augustine, FL. To get the scoop on Nancy and her books, visit Nancy, “Like” her author page on Facebook, or follow her on Twitter.
