For some books, I will write out extensive 10-15 page outlines that tell me exactly where the story will go even before I write a single page of the actual story. Getting bogged down that way is my sign that I need to ditch the scene and start from scratch (and I HATE having to cut those pages out!). But when the bog happens, I just take a deep breath, cut the scene, and try something new to get the story going again.

Hey, Stephanie! Balance. That's the hardest part. I've found that I really enjoy writing about dark characters, but I don't want them to be *too* dark, so I have to add enough elements in there to show that even crazy villains can have good points.Cynthia Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13777122930189030299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5332990871059750176.post-24301298418021321102010-12-06T22:23:12.835+01:002010-12-06T22:23:12.835+01:00Shiloh, I wish I had an assistant--that would be a...Shiloh, I wish I had an assistant--that would be awesome!! I wrote off and on through college, off-and-on through various jobs, and then I *think* I sold my first book in 2004. So from the time I wrote the first (terrible!) story, until the time I sold was about 10 yrs. Since then, I've contracted 17 novels and sold 10 novellas.

Trishd, my fave author is Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle--I read her no matter what name she uses!
