Lots and Lots of Contest Winners!

Last week I had quite a few author guests over for Halloween and therefore there was also quite a few contests. On top of that the Monthly Giveaway made an appearance and I have to say I am not surprised about which book won :)

However now it is time to announce who won! There are going to be some very happy people out there today :) Here goes!

Author HP Mallory was here and she was very kindly offering two of her books to two winners. The first winner to contact me to claim the prize can choose which book they would like (either To Kill A Warlock or Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble) and the winner who isn't as fast gets what is left over ;) Trick or Treat?

So here are the two winners! Congrats to -

Buddyt!!

&

Kathy!!

Next up was author Rachel Caine and I decided to offer up one of her books! Winners choice! That means the winner can pick the book they are missing or get the newest release. So who is the lucky winner? Congrats to -

Stephmartin71!!!

Keep reading to find out how to claim your prize!

Last but not least was author Maria Lima. The lovely author was very kindly giving away a copy of BLOOD HEAT or winner's choice of the BLOOD LINES books. So who is the winner? Well done -

Barbara E!!

However we still have two winners! The Monthly Giveaway had a Trick or Treat twist in October. The Trick or Treat Twist - I will pick two winners this month. The first winner to contact me gets a copy of the winning book. The second winner to contact me gets a copy of the book that gets the least votes!

So lets look at which books won the vote!

Blood Heat by Maria Lima came in last with 6.58%! Sad!

Taken by Midnight by Lara Adrian got just 15.79% of the votes.

Harvest Hunting By Yasmine Galenorn got only 17.11% of the votes. Not sure what to think of that result!

Second place goes to Ghost Town by Rachel Caine with 25% of the votes.

I wasn't surprised. Alpha by Rachel Vincent was the clear winner with 35.53%.

So the first person to contact me gets a copy of Alpha and the second person gets a copy of Blood Lines. Who won? The email addresses beginning with -

137) Taken by Midnight by Lara Adrian

The Blurb -

In the frozen Alaskan wilderness, former state trooper Jenna Darrow survives an unspeakable breach of body and soul. But with her narrow escape comes an even greater challenge. For strange changes are taking place within her, as she struggles to understand—and control—a new hunger. To do so, she will seek shelter in the Boston compound of the Order, an ancient race of vampire warriors whose very existence is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps the most mysterious of them all is Brock, a brooding, dark-eyed alpha male whose hands hold the power to comfort, heal . . . and arouse.

As she recovers under Brock’s care, Jenna finds herself drawn to the Order’s mission: to stop a ruthless enemy and its army of assassins from subjecting Earth to a reign of terror. Yet in spite of their resolve, a purely physical relationship without strings soon binds Brock and Jenna together with a desire fiercer than life and stronger than death itself—until a secret from Brock’s past and Jenna’s own mortality challenges their forbidden love to the ultimate trial by fire.

My Thoughts -

The Breed series has come a long way and Taken by Midnight shows that there is still a long way to go. Things get more interesting, deeper and exciting in this new installment. A far-fetched but super angle is explored and questions are left unanswered this time around. Meanwhile the typical style and sequence of events stays the same. Breed meets girl, girl and Breed fall in love. All the story around it is the on-going plot I have come to know and enjoy.

However this series does seem to be going further than I expected. Sure there is a lot more possibilities but how far will this go? I really want to know what the enemy is up to. I finally want to see the Breed get rid of the baddie and for everyone to live happy ever after. Will this ever happen? I don't know but I am definitely going to enjoy the ride till the last stop.

If you like J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon then you have to try this series. There are some similarities but this series also has some new fresh twists and turns. Original and special this series is a lovely mix of Urban Paranormal Fantasy and romance. With not too much emphasis on the romance. Well worth checking out!

4) Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian

Bush pilot Alexandra Maguire is making her usual trip through the Alaskan wilds when she comes across something horrible. The massacre awakens the memories of what she witnessed as a child and starts to haunt her again. She once again tries to keep her claims to herself, knowing that no-one will believe her stories of fangs and footprints in the snow. Then a dark stranger appears in town and he opens her mind up to a whole new world.

Sent from Boston to investigate the attacks and put an end to the killings, vampire Breed warrior Kade is no stranger to the Alaskan weather. He isn't happy to be back and hopes the secrets he left behind are still unknown to the rest of his family. As he goes about his investigation he meets Alex and he soon realises that she is special. Then things start clicking into place and not only does Kade find himself fighting feelings he doesn't have time for. He also finds out that the killer he is searching for is one of the most deadly he will ever come across.

Shades of Midnight is the seventh book in the Midnight Breed series and one of the best yet. I have been following this series religiously since it started and I am happy it had picked up speed again. The last book Ashes of Midnight was certainly not the best yet and I was worried that the Midnight Breed series was going downhill. Well this new installment certainly showed me that there was nothing to be worried about. Shades of Midnight has left me wanting more. Now!

With twists and turns all the way through the well thought out story, this romantic paranormal delight is serious and fast-paced. I had a hard time putting this one down and loved the two main characters, their tale and the continuing Midnight Breed story. Erotic and exciting the author really out did herself this time around and I hope that the next in the series keeps the pace.

Anyone who enjoys the Black Dagger Brotherhood should pick up this series. If you are a Lynsay Sands or Cynthia Eden fan then you will also feel right at home with these books. However make sure you start at the beginning and savour the trip. This is a series that is not to be missed.

111) Ashes of Midnight by Lara Adrian

Claire Roth flees from her home when it is threaten only to find the threat is a vampire warrior she once knew. Andreas Reichen has been missing, presumed dead, and now he is a danger consumed by the revenge he feels he needs to take on Claire's husband. Claire was once close to this man but now she sees him as a stranger but she still wants to help him.

Nothing will stop Andreas from getting vengeance and even Claire finds it hard to stop him. Blood-bonded to a husband she realises she doesn't really know, Claire goes with Andreas in the hope that she can save him. What she doesn't expect is for their old feelings for each other to emerge and take over. Hopefully Andreas can control his fire and not burn the one he really does love.

Book six in the Midnight Breed series is certainly not the best yet but it was still a dramatic and romantic read. The whole Midnight Breed concept has always been enough to keep me returning to this series and I am still a follower. However something was missing from this book but it could have just been that it took me a little longer than usual to get back into this series.

Shades of Midnight, Book Seven in this amazing paranormal erotic series, is due out in the Spring of next year. Hopefully when it comes out I will remember all that happened in this book and will not need so much time to slip back into this wonderful world and interesting characters.
