102) The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Every teenage girl would like to special and different but for Chloe Saunders it is a reality. She is a walking science experiment who was genetically altered at birth. Now she is being held by the Edison group and she doesn't want to stay around long enough to find out what they want to do with her. Especially now that her powers are starting to grow.

You see Chloe is a powerful necromancer. She has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and can also raise the dead. Her powers need to be trained but right now all she needs is freedom. So Chloe finds herself running for her life with three other supernatural teenagers she has met along the way. It isn't easy travelling with the sorcerer, witch and werewolf, but they need each other if they are going to survive. Hopefully Chloe can trust them and maybe together they can come up with a plan to save them from the Edison Group forever.

I love Kelley Armstrong's books and this one is no exception. This young adult version of her Women of the Otherworld series is just perfect. If you love Elena and Clay then you will adore Chloe and her friends. Set in the same world with the same rules I keep wanting to shout out 'Go to Jeremy he will help' or 'Try and find Paige'. Of course I am not sure if these youngsters will ever meet with their fellow older Otherworld characters. That could be interesting...

All in all this was brilliant. What else can you say about something so well written and action packed. If you love the paranormal genre and/or have visited the Otherworld before then this is a must read. Sure this is Young Adult but it isn't that young and it isn't that old either. It is perfect and I can't wait for more.

This is book two in the Darkest Powers trilogy. I didn't realise it was a trilogy until reading this book and thought it would be an on going series. However knowing that only one more book is coming actually sounds good. I just hope there won't be a long wait for the final part!

I'm really enjoying this trilogy as well, and I'm right with you in hoping that we won't have to wait to long for the third installment!
