105) Beyond the Grave by Mara Purnhagen

The Blurb :

Being Charlotte Silver, the daughter of famous paranormal investigators, means my life isn’t like that of other teenage girls. Especially after what happened to my parents. Things changed. I missed prom and deferred my big college plans. But I still have my boyfriend, Noah. He’s everything I could want—if I can figure out what’s up with him. Suddenly Noah is secretive.

I fear it has something to do with what happened to us three months ago. The bruise Noah suffered during a paranormal attack has never completely faded. Now I’ve learned Noah is researching demons. And when he disappears, it’s up to me to find him—before something else does.

My Review :

Mara Purnhagen and her Past Midnight Series is one of those things that I am extremely happy I came across. I enjoyed the first two books in this series so much and book three, while not my favourite so far, was still an enjoyable read. I am hooked on this series and I love the way it is evolving. Charlotte is a joy to read about and the concept of the whole series just appeals to me on so many levels.

This time around the story revolves around a few different aspects which all manage to come together in the end. It is thrilling to follow the whole story and see it unfold while trying to guess what the final outcome will be. While I did have some idea of what could be happening I was as totally surprised as Charlotte when certain things did come to light. Which is a true sign of how good an author Mara Purnhagen is.

While this series is aimed at Young Adults I have to say I find it is a super series for older readers too. Charlotte is already in college now and her life hasn't exactly been full of child like situations. After all she has been ghost hunting with her family since she was born. Oh and things can get a little spooky but what else would you expect from a series involving ghosts. Although things don't get scary enough to stop you sleeping at night.

The Past Midnight books are a super series that I am totally enjoying and have on my must read list. I am looking forward to seeing how things develop in any upcoming books the author writes and I hope that she will continue surprising and thrilling me with the adventures of Charlotte's family and friends.

Beyond the Grave is due for release on the 30th of August! Make sure you read the previous books first!
