21) Beautiful Demons by Sarra Cannon

The Blurb :

Harper Madison isn't like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she's lost count. Shadowford Home is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs. But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.

My Review :

There are books on my Kindle that have been there for years. They may not be as dusty as all those real paperbacks and hardbacks on my bookshelves but they don't seem to be seeing the light of day any time soon. So in a desperate attempt to get some of those older books read I am trying to add one to my reading list after every one or two books read. Maybe the books on my shelves will get read someday too...

Beautiful Demons is a book that has been on my Kindle for a while and I have no idea where it came from. Either a wishlist gift or a free read, it was obviously something I liked the look of at some point. However it was clear within a few chapters that this wasn't the book I was hoping for. Fast, jumpy and not very exciting I really didn't like the writing style or concept. I kept reading with the hope that things would get better.

There seemed to be parts of the story missing. Little pieces that were edited out or forgotten about. Also the story seemed to be unplanned. A piece of work that just kept being added to as things progressed with no real reasoning behind the additions except that it helped the story come to some kind of end. The characters were plain and I didn't really like the main character much.

Most definitely one of those Young Adult reads that will really appeal to younger readers. Adults who, like myself, like reading some YA paranormals will be disappointed with this one. Not a series I will be continuing. Maybe something for that young reader in your life.

If you're like me it was a free read. It's been on my Kindle pretty much since I opened the box. I occasionally think I should reading through my free reads, and I will eventually....I'm suddenly not in a rush to read this one.

I've only recently acquired an e-reader - as a gift. But already, I've noticed a tendency to download a free e-novel here and there. And Thus....An E-book TBR Has Begat....lol. Now I have an e-book TBR "pile", which I never thought I would have. ;)
