80) The Last Word by Ellery Adams

The Blurb :

Olivia Limoges and the Bayside Book Writers are excited about Oyster Bay's newest resident: bestselling novelist Nick Plumley, who's come to work on his next book. But when Olivia stops by Plumley's rental she finds that he's been strangled to death. Her instincts tell her that something from the past came back to haunt him, but she never expects that the investigation could spell doom for one of her dearest friends...

My Thoughts :

Ellery Adams is a fantastic cozy mystery writer and I adore her Charmed Pie Shoppe Mysteries.  However I didn't start reading her books because of her magicial cozy mystery series.  I started with the Books by the Bay mysteries. The first two books were wonderful and realising I was a little behind in the series it was high time I read the third installment.

The Oyster Bay setting is just devine and I wish I could go visit for real and just not in this series.  The holiday town has its permanent residents and of course the appearance of a bestselling author raises a few questions.  When he is found dead the only solution Olivia sees is to find out why someone killed him and who it was.  Once again the amateur sleuth sets to work with her mass of amazing friends and loyal poodle.

It may all sound a little over the top but the author writes a great mystery.  This one in particualr was extremely interesting because of the historical aspects weaved into the plot.  As everything started to unravel itself I was surprised and happy to see things go the way they did.  Not every book can make you sad for the killer but this one did and rightfully so.

Well worth checking out if you are a fan of the Charmed Pie Shoppe books and need something to tie you over till the next one comes out.  This isn't paranormal in anyway but it is still a very magicial series.  Looking for a new cozy for your next read?  You can't go wrong with this author.  She has a great way of spinning a tale and wrapping up all the loose ends without forcing things.
