Guest Blog & Contest with Cynthia Eden

This week we have a guest blog and contest! Cynthia Eden's books have blown me away and I hope you have all picked up and tried at least one of her stories. If you haven't then make sure you enter the contest. Maybe you will win a signed copy of her newest release!

-------------------------

What’s your pleasure?

(A very big thanks to Amber for inviting me to guest post!)

Today, I find myself in book paradise. I can walk into a bookstore and find the shelves packed with stories about werewolves, vampires, and demons. Pretty much any paranormal character I can think of (say an immortal Greek god), well, I can find a romance about him—and that sure makes me one happy woman. Because when it comes to my reading…the paranormals are pure pleasure for me.

I read, and write, darker stories. Stories not just about the handsome guy next door. Instead, my tales are more about the demon next door, the one you probably shouldn’t trust, but you have to…because he’s the only man keeping you alive. Ah, yes, that would be my kind of story.

My latest release, MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, concludes my paranormal Midnight trilogy. The hero of this book is a guy with a very definite dark side, and he’s a man that many fear in the darkness of the night. What can I say? He’s my kind of guy. And for my heroine, Holly Storm…he’s the only man who can help her stop a killer—a killer who happens to be preying on supernatural victims.

But what about you? When it comes to reading, what’s your pleasure? Do you like the contemporary tales? The historicals? Or, do you have a darker side? Leave me a comment and tell me your reading pleasure. One commenter will win an autographed copy of MIDNIGHT’S MASTER.

Thanks!
Cynthia Eden

Hi Cynthia~

Midnight's Master sounds really great and I am looking forward to reading it.

For me, it is the darker stuff...give me vamipires, demons, shape shifters, and other things that go bump in the night...and I am a happy girl.

Audrey A said...

I love all types of books. But I mostly read contemporary and paranormal books. I loved Midnight's Master but my favorite is Hotter After Midnight. I love werewolves.

Barbara Monajem said...

My favorite genres are historical and paranormal, because they're not about the here and now. I'm living in the here and now, so I want to read about something different! And yet... although I'm happy to read about any kind of paranormal or magical characters, I particularly enjoy stories where the magic is *almost* possible, *almost" real.

tetewa said...

Congrats on the release! My favorite genre is the Paranormal, especially vamps.

Hi, Barbara! Lately, I've really been enjoying a good blend of historical and paranormal romances. What a good combo!

Thank you, tetewa! I've always thought a woman couldn't go wrong with a good vamp. :-)

Hello, Jo Ann!! Thank you!

I have a darker side and prefer paranormal/fantasy over other works of fiction. Something about it just makes me sometimes wish it were true.

I love my genres, but my true love, oh yes fantasy, I guess that is my true pleasure at heart. But I will always love historicals, and those nice sweet regency novels. Not to mention that after I recently discovered the paranormal genre, well let's say I am stuck here and loving it.

I hope you wont get any spam now, I was spammed some time ago, it was horrible

Cynthia, you are a new-to-me author that I have to look further into. The book sounds GREAT!

The things I write tend to be a little darker so I love reading what other authors come up with to soothe, maybe even ease, the darkness inside them. :-)

Congrats on the newest release, Cynthia!

Most of my reading now is historicals and paranormals, or any combo of them. I'll still mix in some other genres, and if it's about pyschics or time travel any genre will do. I do like those edgier darker stories, but also lighter, fun ones, all depends on my mood at the moment.

I'm pretty greedy when it comes to reading, I'll read just about anything I can get my hands on and enjoy it! I really love period pieces, especially pieces about English tudor history, but I also like stories about the paranormal or supernatural. Have you read The Historian yet? That book is phenomenal. Thanks for the giveaway!

I've had this strange fascination with vampires ever since I was a little girl. I have a list of over 400 books about vampires that I'm working on collecting. What I really love is discovering how many "types" of vampires there are, and each one is determined by the author. I mean, Laurell K. Hamilton's vamps are so different from J.R. Ward's, for example... WOOT!!!

I like darker fiction -- dark romance, horror, dark fantasy. I think my favorite genre is 19th and early 20th century horror. You can learn a great deal about a time/people by seeing what frightens them. Some fears seem universal (the dead, dark). Others are weirdly time bound. I remember reading one tale that absolutely baffled me. The protagonist wandered into the woods and met a beautiful young woman who seduced him. And... that was it. The "reveal" at the end was that she was a member of a witch "cult". There was no hint that she was malign or meant him harm. She was just odd. I puzzled over that one a lot, trying to figure out why the author thought such a woman/"cult" would be frightening.
