25) Tangled Threads by Jennifer Estep

The Blurb -

I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings.

But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy businessman Owen Grayson’s front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesn’t shy away from my past—or my present. And right now I have a bull’s-eye on my forehead. Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me.

Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there’s a fifty-fifty chance one of us won’t survive this battle. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too. The only problem is, Bria has no idea I’m her long-lost sibling . . . or that I’m the murderer she’s been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead. . . .

My Review -

So I am not going to be nasty and give away anything. Let me make that clear right now. I was on cloud nine when I got a copy of this and I have been trying really hard not to read it until closer to the release date in April. However I gave in this morning and decided to read the first couple of chapters. How stupid am I to believe I would only read just a little bit? I have spent most of the day curled up in bed gripping my Kindle and reading like there is no tomorrow. This is the Elemental Assassin series and it is addictive, amazing and I want more!

Book four in the series and Gin is on top form but she has all those Tangled Threads in her life and they get even more messed up when Elektra LaFleur rolls into town. Any fan of the series knows what to expect from Gin and you won't be disappointed in this new addition to the on-going story. Gin literally rocks and is as cool as ice once again and does what is needed to be done even if it means she could die in the process.

As an assassin, Gin is as scary as hell but otherwise she is the kind of friend I would want on my side and someone I know I could trust my life with. This is a realisation that quite a few of the characters in Gin's life have come to accept but will everyone who finds out about Gin and her secret life be able to understand it? This is the question that presents itself in this book as Gin decides when and how to tell Bria everything.

Usually in a series there are one or two books that stand out as being better or worse. In the Elemental Assassin series all the books are awesome with an A+. This is Paranormal Urban Fantasy at its very best and is a must buy and a must read. Better than Kim Harrison and higher on my wish list than Sherrilyn Kenyon. If you like reading authors like Kelley Armstrong and Jaye Wells then you are going to love Jennifer Estep and Gin as much as I do.

Buy this series if you haven't tried it yet and if you are a fan make sure you pre-order Tangled Threads.
