140) Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep

The Blurb :

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart — the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword — with Logan’s help — I just might die by the sword …

My Review :

The Mythos Academy series was, for me, one of the most anticipated new series to come out this year. Jennifer Estep is one of my favourite authors and she has yet to disappoint me and I couldn't wait to see what kind of Young Adult series she had to offer. Touch of Frost was amazing and just as unique and special as her Elemental Assassin series. I enjoyed the Mythos Academy debut and was eager to see what would happen next.

Kiss of Frost starts off basically from where we left it after the first book. Gwen is training hard but hasn't really managed to get to grips with anything that could actually help her if her life depended on it. However a small twist in the story and her Gypsy powers begins to change all that and it takes her by surprise as much as it did me. It was a cool new aspect of the story and opens up a whole new playing field for the future.

Otherwise the Winter Carnival was the big theme. It was nice to visit somewhere outside of the Mythos Academy and realise that there are other 'special' schools all over the world. However I was very eager to get to know the Academy better in this second book and was slightly confused about the change of scenery. It turns out to be a nice storyline though and as everything comes together I understood why the author made the trip out of the school and actually didn't mind getting out and about a little.

A great plot comes together in this second book that not only continues on the story from book one but also the history regarding Gwen's mothers death. Some of the revelations and events will had a huge effect on the next book and this has left even more fascinated by this series. Also a nice romantic side plot was an added bonus. I really wonder how that will continue to pan out. I hope book three will be out sooner than later.

In conclusion, a great series! I love Gwen and I am sure you will too. She is a lovely girl that I can't wait to meet up with again. This maybe aimed at Young Adults but this is a definite must read for all Urban Fantasy lovers. If you are a Jennifer Estep fan that you also need to read this series as soon as possible. It is too delicious to pass up on and has no hidden calories! Jennifer really knows how to write a wonderful fantasy filled story that captures your interest and doesn't let you go till the last word. I recommend this one for your Christmas wishlists!

***Kiss of Frost releases later this month!***

I am looking forward to reading this book myself. I did enjoy the first book and its short prequel. Good to know this book doesn't disappoint.
