20) Old Haunts by E.J. Copperman

The Blurb :

The ghosts haunting Alison Kerby's Jersey Shore guesthouse are sad. Maxie wants to know who murdered her ex-husband, and Paul pines for his still-living almost-fiancee. The only one who isn't missing her ex is Alison-because The Swine just arrived on her doorstep...

My Review :

I have really been enjoying this series so I had to put this new release on pre-order. Depsite having so many books on my TBR Pile I felt the need for a cozy and this one was at the top of the list. Ok, so I may have been making excuses to myself to read this before everything else but I had to see what happened next!

I was surprised by how quickly I got settled in the world and life of Alison Kirby. It was like going to visit a family friend or relative that you only see once a year but love and cherish all of the fights, madness and general weirdness of the visit. Oh and it gets better in this case because there are ghosts involved.

Added to the mayhem this time around is Alison's ex husband. I totally understood why she got rid of him and also couldn't wait for him to leave again. However it was nice to finally meet him and get the confirmation that he is a Swine. I felt sorry for Melissa though but she is an extremely resilient and grown-up kid for her age.

The plot was good this time and although I had an inkling the whole time of who the killer was I have to admit the author managed to make me doubt myself till the very moment the murderer confessed. There was also a little twist to the whole story that I didn't even see coming and it was a lovely surprise not only for me but the resident ghost Maxie.

I really so love this cozy but ghostly mystery series and it is not one bit spooky at all. Just well written and enjoyable reading that is staying on my must read list. Looking forward to the next installment and will have it on pre-order.

I pre-ordered this one, too. It's next up on the nightstand or for the purse book. It's one of my favorite series.

Great review Amber, I really need to start reading this series. And sometimes reading for fun instead of reading because you agreed to it, is good for your enjoyment :)
