155) Blood Bath & Beyond by Michelle Rowen

The Blurb :

Sarah Dearly is adjusting to life as a fledgling vampire, satisfying her cravings at vampire-friendly blood banks. But when her fiancĂ© Thierry takes a job with the Ring—the secret council in charge of keeping vampires in line—Sarah’s about to get more than a taste of danger…

Being engaged to a centuries-old master vampire can be challenging—especially when he takes a job with the Ring. Thierry’s in for fifty years of nonstop travel and deadly risk. It’s enough to make any woman reconsider the wedding…any woman except Sarah, that is.

Traveling to Las Vegas for his first assignment, they encounter a child beauty pageant contestant from hell, as well as a vampire serial killer leaving victims drained of blood, potentially exposing the existence of vampires to the whole world. But when Thierry’s truly ancient history comes back to haunt him, and he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, it’s up to Sarah to clear his name before their immortal lives come to an end

My Thoughts :

I believe I have read a Michelle Rowen book at some point but I can't remember which one or when. However Blood Bath & Beyond looked and sounded a little different to what I was expecting from this author. I love a good cozy mystery and if there is a paranormal element mixed in I am in heaven but did this author really have it in her?

The answer is a big yes! From the beginning I was hooked and addicted to the story. Vampires never get boring and a mystery solving one is just perfect reading. Not deep and dark but definitely cozy this book reminded me a lot of Victoria Laurie's cozy mysteries. Well written and easy to read the plot built up with a nice pace and didn't get boring once. I loved the characters and enjoyed the story a lot. It was interesting and exciting.

So this first in the Immortality Bites Mysteries is in my opinion a must read. Despite the cool cover I didn't expect it to be that good. However it surprised me with its charm and cool content. New vampire ideas and some funny wit helped make this read even more tasty and stand out. I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

Definitely one for my pre-order list. Nice cozy to read even if you don't like vampires. However if you are hung up on paranormal content then you will enjoy this one a lot. Give it a try and like me you may be left pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for sharing this review! This sounds like a very interesting story with two elements that I enjoy reading - mysteries and paranormal. I'm definitely going to try this story.
