12) Crimson Frost by Jennifer Estep

The Blurb :

For a moment, a face flashed before my eyes—the most hideous face I’d ever seen. No matter how hard I tried to forget what had happened, I saw him everywhere I went. It was Loki—the evil god that I’d helped set free against my will.

I should have known that my first official date with Logan Quinn was destined to end in disaster. If we’d gotten into a swordfight, or been ambushed by Reapers, I’d have been more prepared. But getting arrested mid-sip at the local coffee hangout? I didn’t see that one coming.

I’ve been accused of purposely helping the Reapers free Loki from his prison—and the person leading the charge against me is Linus Quinn, Logan’s dad. The worst part is that pretty much everyone at Mythos Academy thinks I’m guilty. If I’m going to get out of this mess alive, I’ll have to do it myself…

My Thoughts :

Oh wow! Another great book in the Mythos Academy series and yet another spectacular read from Jennifer Estep. I may have fallen in love with the genre because of Kim Harrison or Kelley Armstrong but Jennifer Estep is the one keeping me excited and addicted to Paranormal Urban Fantasy. There aren't enough words to say how much I am enjoying this series. But I will try!

So the last visit to the Mythos Academy was quite a busy one with Loki finally being freed due to Gwen being tricked. Now it wasn't her fault but some guys called the Protectorate turn up and arrest her for everything that has happened since she started at the Academy. This means all the school is against her and another problem is that Logan's parents are basically 'The Protectorate'.

As usual lots of twists and turns. There are some more but I won't spoil all the evil surprises. All I can say is that if I was Gwen I would curl up somewhere and give up. The girl has guts and strength. It is a shame that this book leaves her the way it does.

Wonderful story telling from Jennifer as per usual. This series may be tamer than her Elemental Assassins series but it is still well written and exciting. Unique and not even close to any of those other paranormal 'School' books this one revolves around Greek Mythology and seriously kicks some butt.

I can't wait to see what happens next and hope for Gwen that she doesn't have to go through so much emotional stuff next time around. Also I feel it is time that Loki made an appearance and not the usual villian Vivian. While a major part of the plot I want to see more of the Reapers upper levels and what Gwen is really against.

A must read series even if you aren't a young adult. If you haven't checked out Jennifer Estep's other books then you certainly need to. This is a special author who writes extremely special stories that you can't help but get caught up in and love.
