161) Dead is a State of Mind by Marlene Perez

Nightshade, California, is a small town that is full of secrets. Daisy Giordano has already unveiled a few of those secrets but she knows she hasn't found out about them all but she is ready to find out more. Which isn't proving to be too hard for her. With all kinds of paranormals in town and special abilities within her own family, Daisy and her sisters are fully involved in the mysteries that surround Nightshade.

Daisy's psychic abilities still need some fine tuning but when Duke Sherrad arrives at Nightshade High she doesn't need to read his mind to know he is a fake. However Duke is only a small annoyance compared to the other things going on. Prom is coming up and Daisy's boyfriend Ryan still hasn't asked her. Actually it would help to see him so he could ask her but he is has been a very absent lately. Then one of her sisters starts seeing a ghost. Actually seeing as in dating...while her other sister is going out with a werewolf.

However weird things are in Nightshade the death of one of her teachers shocks everyone. All fingers are pointing towards an animal attack and to make things interesting Duke predicted the murder. What is going on around Daisy? Who is the killer? Will she figure it out before someone else gets hurt or killed?

Dead is a State of Mind is the second book in the Giordano sisters series and it was a great read. Curled up on the sofa, I read this within a couple of hours and in one gulp. Easy to get into, this young adult paranormal is like watching an episode of your favourite TV series.

If you like paranormal and young adult this is a worthwhile series to get your hands on. Not childish, this series is a little creepy, very paranormal and full of great characters. The plot is good, well written and full of twists. I really like the characters and can't wait to she what happens next in the Giordano household. I don't think they ever have a dull moment!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Dead is the New Black, when I read it a few months ago and I have been dying to get the next books in the series. I am sure I will be reading book three, Dead is so Last year, sooner rather than later because this series really has something addictive inside that makes me want to read more right away.
