184) Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill

Ten months has passed since the vampire revealed their existence. In Chicago the vampires are enjoying the celebrity status that the mortals are giving them but there are still things the mortals don't know and don't understand about the vamps. That isn't to say that the vampires agree with some of the activities some vampires take part in. One activity that is frowned upon by many is the Rave parties where mass feeding takes place on humans.

Merit is a new vampire with connections to the upper class. As a new member and Sentinel to Cadogan house she has tried her best to adapt to her new lifestyle as quickly as possible. Now her liege, head of the Cadogan House, Ethan, wants her to mingle with her family and friends to help keep the vampire secrets out of the media.

That is all well and good but someone seems to have it in for the vampires and if Merit doesn't find out who and how then there will be a public relations problem that may end up in the killing of her new family.

Friday Night Bites is the second book in the Chicagoland Vampire series and continues the story about new vampire Merit. Everything started in Some Girls Bite and with so many vampire series filling the shelves of the Urban Paranormal genre, you sometimes have to ask yourself as a reader if you really want to start and continue to follow yet another one. In the case of this series I had decided that, yes, this is a series worth keeping up with and this sequel has made me extremely happy with my decision.

Not only is Merit a great main character but the other characters in this series have me wanting more. I actually wouldn't mind getting to know the other characters in this series and would love to read some stories from their point of view. If that wasn't enough to keep me reading the fresh new look on things is. So many new series come out but have a striking resemblance to so many others already out there. Chicagoland Vampires is fresh, smart and exciting. There isn't anything else out there similar to this.

So I am eager to read more of this series and find out what happens next to Merit and her friends. If you are looking for something new and different then make a point to add this one to your shopping or wish list. Also make sure to keep an eye out for Chloe's other series which starts in January. If Firespell: A Novel of the Dark Elite is as good as Chicagland Vampires then my must read list is going to grow in size again.
