113) Bring on the Night by Jeri Smith-Ready

The Blurb -

WHAT’S BLOOD GOT TO DO WITH IT?

Recovering con artist Ciara Griffin seems to finally have it all. A steady job at WVMP, the Lifeblood of Rock ’n’ Roll. A loving relationship with the idiosyncratic but eternally hot DJ Shane McAllister. A vampire dog who never needs shots or a pooper-scooper. And after nine years, it looks as if she might actually finish her bachelor’s degree!

But fate has other plans for Ciara. First she must fulfill her Faustian bargain with the Control, the paranormal paramilitary agency that does its best to keep vampires in line. Turns out the Control wants her for something other than her (nonexistent) ability to kick undead ass. Her anti-holy blood, perhaps? Ciara’s suspicions are confirmed when she’s assigned to a special-ops division known as the Immanence Corps, run by the Control’s oldest vampire and filled with humans who claim to have special powers. To a confirmed skeptic like Ciara, it sounds like a freak fest. But when a mysterious fatal virus spreads through Sherwood—and corpses begin to rise from their graves—Ciara will not only get a crash course in zombie-killing, but will be forced to put her faith, and her life itself, in the hands of magic.

My Review -

I am a huge fan of this author and she has been high on my list of must read/buy authors for a while now. Bring on the Night has not only reminded me why Jeri is on that list but it has also got me wondering if there is anything I can do to influence the speed she writes and the length it takes to get the next book in this series released. Like a newly made vampire in bloodlust, I couldn't get enough of Bring on the Night and was totally addicted.

Daring is a word that kept coming up in my head as I was reading Bring on the Night but that would be an understatement. Jeri was really taking a leap of faith with some of the twists and turns in this new Ciara story and she definitely hasn't hurt herself one bit in the fall. If anything she has landed perfectly with a 10 out of 10.

The series went to a place I didn't think it would go and things are going to get even better than I thought. Jeri never disappoints and always surprises and this new installment offers quite a few of the OMG variety. Delicious depth and brilliant writing really makes you believe you are there with the characters helping them out and taking part in the plot. Realistic and not over the top the story this time really made me think. I am so glad I have already had the chickenpox because this book would have had me off for my shots straight away.

Jeri Smith-Ready has taken all the ingredients from every other good vampire book, mixed them up in her own special recipe and produced the yummiest tasting Urban Paranormal that will have you drooling for more. Vampires, zombies and good music. Enough said. If you haven't tried this series yet then you must be too busy? Make time! Have been following the series and haven't got the cash for this one? Well beg, borrow or steal it! You must read this as soon as possible!
