My Thoughts :

This book had been on my wishlist for a while even though it only released in July. I enjoyed the first book in the series, Paranormalcy, was happy listening to the second book, Supernaturally, but Endlessly was a bore. As it became more and more clear that this book was the third and last in the series I was happy. It meant I didn't have to meet up with Evie again.

What went wrong? I really did like the first two books. However this time around Evie came across as whiny, slow and had a huge ego. She also doesn't stop going on and on about her amazing boyfriend. Now in the previous books he was fun and got involved. This time around he was only involved if Evie needed him around. He came across as a pretty sad lap dog.

The plot was ok but compared to the other stories it was slow and uninteresting. It was obvious that the author was finding a way to clear things up and give the readers that perfect ending but trying to throw in a few twists or surprises along the way to add length and keep you guessing. I found it pretty boring and actually stopped listening to the book for a week because I was so unimpressed.

I managed to finish listening to this audiobook because I wanted closure from the series. With this being the last in the trilogy I couldn't just give up. If I knew the series was continuing I doubt I would have listened to the end. If I had been reading this one, and not listening to it, I may have just thrown the book across the room and given up.

So if you have been following Evie's adventures then you may find this last part to be a disappointment. For the most part I have seen only good reviews so maybe I missed something somewhere. If you haven't tried this trilogy yet then maybe make sure you aren't feeling too old for it. This is a Young Adult series and despite being a great paranormal read it can be a little too girly and too young at times. However if you have a 13 to 16 year old around who loves that kind of thing you may want to treat them to these books for Christmas!

Side note : I will be checking out the authors next offering next year. Mind Games looks like it could be a good read!

My Review :

Paranormalcy has got to be one of the best audio books I listened to over the last year. So there was no stopping me from using my audible.com credit last month to get the sequel, Supernaturally. I couldn't wait to see what was going on in Evie's life. Is it everything she wished for?

Well the answer is no. Without the IPCA she is pretty bored. Sure school has lockers but it is nothing like her favourite High School TV show. So of course when trouble and excitement arrives in the form of Jack, she is pulled in. Jack isn't a lovable character but he is fun to read about. He did get on my nerves, and Evie's, but all in all he made things a little bit more interesting.

I missed Lend in this book though. Evie's boyfriend and love of her life always seemed to be busy with school. His appearances usually coincided with Evie getting into some kind of trouble and him getting mad with her which got a little tiring after a while. However I did really enjoy getting to know Arianna. I hope Evie has more time to spend with her vampire room mate in the future.

What really made this story special was finding out more about Evie and where she came from. Finally we get some solid information about where she came from and there is certainly space in future books to expand on the whole parents issue. I just hope that one day the poor girl gets a place to call home. I have to say it was pretty sad to realise Evie didn't have somewhere she felt like she belonged.

All in all this was a good sequel. Not as amazing as the first book but still totally original and worth reading. Not too lovey dovey or over the top, this series is one I am really enjoying. It maybe Young Adult but it isn't childish. Although I hope Evie stops bleeping using bleeps because she is really quite grown up and it isn't like she has any parents around who will ground her for swearing.

I am not a huge faery fan but this series is definitely one I can live with. After all there are more paranormal delights in this series other than the fae. I am looking forward to the third part, Endlessly, and can't wait to get it on audio. It is a nice series to listen to and I am even starting to like the narrators voice. It suits Evie somehow.

My Thoughts -

Paranormalcy was haunting me. Every time I looked at Amazon or Audible it seemed to be on my recommendations list or it would pop up when searching for something else. In the end I gave up trying to put off reading this book and decided to listen to it instead. I needed something new and paranormal to listen to and this looked like a good one to try out.

There are so many Paranormal and Fantasy genre books nowadays and the amount of Young Adult Paranormals since the 'Vampire' explosion is just amazing. So lately I seem to start each YA book wondering how long it will take to find some resemblance to Twilight or even worse another 'School' or 'Academy' full of paranormals. Paranormalcy surprised me by not living up to any of these expectations and actually did not do the typical storyline or plots. The writer managed to come up with something new, unusual and good. Kudos to her!

It was refreshing. I didn't know what would happen next. There was no use guessing because the author really did think about things and seemed to go out of her way to make this book non Twilight, non stupid teenage girl and not predictable. Yes, Evie makes mistakes but she doesn't go and follow the stereotypical path that all the girls in the majority of the YA books always seem to follow. I admired Evie and liked her a lot and hope that this book wasn't just a one off but the start of something I can really get my teeth into.

Yes this is Young Adult but it is still paranormal and the good kind of yummy paranormal. Full of vampires, weres, fae and many more supernaturals, this book really covers some ground and then some. Think of Paranormalcy as being a tamer version of your favourite Urban Fantasy series without the sex, drugs and rock and roll. Well worth reading or listening to. Although I have to say I did think the narrator sounded a little too 'cheerleader'.
