60) Where the Wild Things Bite by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Winthrop's job description. You know what isn't? Protecting her precious cargo from mid-flight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow...while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

Fortunately, Anna's dashing fanged companion Finn Palmeroy helps her fend off the attack, but not before their plane crash lands in the forest hundreds of miles from civilization. Great, now she's stranded with a priceless tome and a rakish vampire whose bedtime is fast approaching. Why does everyone want this book so badly, anyway? Anna just wants to get it to Jane before Finn decides to turn her into dinner-or sweep her off her feet. Okay, the second option is really tempting. But they're not out of the woods yet...

My Thoughts :

I love Molly Harper's books and I couldn't wait to download the audio version of this new release.  The narrator is amazing and the stories are always enjoyable.  So what can else I say? Other than this was another fun and quirky installment in the Half-Moon Hollow series?  I can say you should be off reading it instead of reading this....

Once again there were hilarious moments, sarcastic wit and hot romance.  This time it was all about Anna and Finn but it was always implied that at some point the crew from Half-Moon Hollow would get involved.  So if you are a huge fan of Jane and the others, don't despair! They appear in the story but this one isn't located in the Hollow so you will have to be patient.

The author managed to come up with another great plot and introduce some wonderful characters.  I enjoyed listening to both of their stories and grew to like them a lot.  I just hope that we hear more about them in upcoming books because I fear they are going to be too far away for regular appearances.

If you haven't read any of Molly's books then you should really give them a try.  She has a great humour which works both on paper and on audio.  However I can highly recommend the audio versions because the narrator does a brilliant job bringing Molly's books to life.  If you have already read some or all of Molly's books then I expect it won't be long until you get to this one.  Don't wait too long though!

50) Big Vamp on Campus by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

How will Ophelia adjust to living in a dorm room now that she has been banished from the Council and forced to matriculate at college with Jamie? Communal showers! Horrible, pretentious roommates! Humans who try to be FRIENDS! The horror!

My Thoughts :

I actually listened to this one last weekend but for some reason or another I didn't get around to posting a review.  So a week too late, I have to say, I still love Molly Harper!  I still love the Half-Moon Hollow Series and I can't wait for more!

Luckily the wait until the next book isn't too long but I am a little annoyed that this novella was released before the next novel.  Why?  Because apparently this short story takes place after the next novel.  Stupid order to release the books...but luckily it didn't make any difference.  Otherwise I would have been really mad.

As it was, this was all I have come to expect from the author and series.  Funny, witty and worth reading.  I love listening to this series because the narrator is just amazing.  Give me a review copy and I will still wait for the audio version to come out because the actress just brings the series to life.

I don't want to go into details regarding the story because it is a short one and it may give away too much of the plot.  I can say it is a must read for all fans of the series and a definite must read if you wanted to hear Ophelia's side of things.  Interesting and well written.  Love this author and series.

110) Fangs for the Memories by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

How did Andrea and Dick Cheney fall in love? Join Half-Moon Hollow’s favorite couple for a trip down memory lane—to a time when Mr. Wainwright was newly dead, Jane Jameson was a newbie vampire, and a budding paranormal romance was not yet uncorked…

Half-Moon Hollow’s supernatural social event of the season—Zeb’s Titanic-themed werewolf wedding—is coming up, and Dick Cheney (not that Dick Cheney!) needs a date. But Andrea’s had enough of clever, handsome, and rakish to last a lifetime, and Dick Cheney is certainly not the sort of man you bring home to mom (not that Andrea’s deadist parents are speaking to her ever since she dropped out of college and became a blood surrogate.) Shameless, relentless, roguish, with a Stetson-worthy swagger, a naughty sparkle in his eyes, and a constant smirk—oh, and fangs—no, Dick is the last person (er…vampire) Andrea wants to date.

But the infuriatingly irresistible man who lives quietly on the edge of a criminal underworld knows exactly what he wants, and once he surprises Andrea with a thrilling hot and dirty kiss behind the paranormal bookshop, she knows what she wants too: Dick. All it takes to ignite their unconventional courtship is a near-undeath experience that confronts Dick with a choice between turning Andrea, losing her forever, or tapping into his countless shady resources).

My Thoughts :

It was a special week for Half-Moon Hollow fans!  Not only did we get a full length novel but there was also a novella released about how Andrea and Dick got together.  A story that I am sure many a fan has been waiting for.

However I have to say it fell a little short.  This short story was a welcome addition to the series but to be honest I wanted Andrea and Dick to get a nice full length story with all the wit and charm I am used to and not this short tale.  I didn't feel it did them justice and it was all over before it began.

Yes this is well worth reading if you are a fan but expect to be slightly disappointed.  It was a nice read but it certainly wasn't everything I was hoping for.  Although maybe it wasn't a good idea to release this short story so close to the full length new release.  I was on such a high from reading The Single Undead Moms Club that this was a lame dessert.

An amazing series that I will always pre-order but release the novellas in between full length books because then they taste much sweeter!

108) The Single Undead Moms Club by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Widow Libby Stratton arranged to be turned into a vampire after she was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. It wasn’t the best idea she’s ever had, but she was desperate—she’s not about to leave her seven-year-old son to be raised by her rigid, overbearing in-laws.

On top of post-turning transition issues, like being ignored at PTA meetings and other mothers rejecting her son’s invitations for sleepovers, Libby must deal with her father-in-law’s attempts to declare her an unfit mother, her growing feelings for Wade—a tattooed redneck single dad she met while hiding in a closet at Back to School Night—and the return of her sire, who hasn’t stopped thinking about brave, snarky Libby since he turned her.

My Thoughts :

Half-Moon Hollow is the place to be if you are a vampire.  Libby Stratton finds this out when she takes the plunge into the undead life when the big C threatens to stop her from seeing her son grow up. It may not of been the best decision she made but a mother will do anything to make sure her child is safe.

The problems start piling up around Libby from the first day of her Vampire life.  They range from a custody fight to Sire issues and include some PTA haters and a sexy redneck.  Every night is a challenge as she makes sure her son is cared for when she is asleep in the day and that she manages her feeding and doesn't hurt anyone.

With Molly Harper's typical wit this story manages to be fun and inspiring instead of weepy and exhausting.  Libby is likable from the beginning and is realistic as a character.  It is an interesting story and many may not like the twists and turns or concept of this latest Half-Moon Hollow installment but as always I enjoyed the vampire book quote at the beginning of each chapter from 'My Mommy Has Fangs',  I loved the new characters and catching up with the regulars and most of all I enjoyed the usual Molly Harper banter and action.

Listening to this series is highly recommended if you like audio books.  Molly Harper is extremely lucky to have such a great narrator for her books.  It is slightly confusing at first because it is the same voice from the previous books, told from another characters perspective, but once the story gets going there is just fun times ahead.

A must read and pre-order author.  I can't wait for the next Half-Moon Hallow adventure and look forward to listening to this great narrator again.

40) The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Gigi is no longer an innocent teen. All grown up and looking for love, her family and friends worry she’ll go for the sexy, alluring vampire instead of a nice, safe human. But sexy and alluring, with a penchant for biting, could be just what Gigi wants...

My Thoughts :

Molly Harper has been delighting me with her books for years now.  She always manages to make me laugh and smile while offering up great fun characters, intriguing plots and paranormal fun!  The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire is another of these wonderful reads and yet again a visit to Half-Moon Hallow.

I had this book on pre-order on Audible because the narrator for Molly's books, Amanda Ronconi, is one of the best!  There are just certain series that I have to listen to and this is one of them.  Even if I was offered an ARC to read I am pretty certain I would have waited for the Audio version because they are just so well read.  Amanda always manages to make the characters sound as snarky, quirky and fun as you want them to be,  A series well worth listening to.

On to the story itself.  What is there to say?  If you have already been to Half-Moon Hallow before then you know what to expect.  There are vampires, werewolves and witches with some humans trying to keep alive.  There are fun and games, lots of pop culture references and of course something mysterious going on that will be solved by the end of the book.  Twists and turns are a definite and there is usually some vampire antics and romance.

So the same old?  Not really.  There is always something new in each book and that isn't just the new POV or the new vampire how-to book that is quoted at the start of each chapter.  There are always new situations with the addition of some new characters while incorporating the ones you already know and love.  The continuing story progresses and this time it isn't just Gigi who gets a life change bit Jane and Dick also get some new responsibility and Ophelia finally gets put in her place.

The plot was full of action and romance with some interesting mystery elements.  I was sure I knew who was up to no good right from the beginning and was right but the how and why was a fun roller coaster ride.  I enjoyed every minute and can't wait for another visit to Half-Moon Hallow which I see will be in Autumn!  Woohoo for not making us wait too long!  Looking forward to more!

111) Snow Falling on Bluegrass by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Kentucky Tourism Commission employee and executive assistant extraordinaire Kelsey is known around the office for having everything under control. So it’s not surprising that she and her boss, Sadie, have everything planned to the second for the office winter retreat. But there are things even Kelsey can’t micromanage.

An unprecedented snowstorm smothers half of Kentucky and knocks out the power, closes the roads, and generally shuts down the state. Luckily, the lodge has working fireplaces and enough food to keep the staff from turning on each other like something out of The Shining. Kelsey wouldn’t mind being stuck inside if it wasn’t for the tension with her not-so-secret crush, Charlie, the office’s statistician. But handsome Ranger Luke, the lodge’s only employee on hand, is there to take Kelsey’s mind off her discomfort.

Even though this weekend is supposed to be a planning session for KTC, Kelsey can’t help her mind from wandering and finds herself conflicted over Luke and Charlie. Someone’s love will keep her warm, but whose will it be?

My Thoughts :

Molly Harper has never managed to disappoint me and her stories always make me smile.  Snow Falling on Bluegrass, the third book in the Bluegrass Series, was funny, light and exactly what I needed.  A romantic comedy with some giggles and laughs which left me feeling happy.  Quirky characters with some crazy weird lives that you can somehow relate to but also wonder how they manage to stay alive.

Stuck in the middle of nowhere in a snowpocolypse isn't how the employees of the Kentucky Tourism Commission expected to spend their annual weekend planning session.  Kelsey was hoping to spend the weekend getting over her ex and trying to find something or someone to take her mind off Daryl who didn't just leave her for another woman but also left her with a lot of unpaid bills.  The horror movie type situation isn't really a good start but it could be worse as the staff try and survive the cold.

The story is amusing throughout and it was nice to see the characters from the previous books again.  Kelsey's story was certainly one that more than a few girls could sympathize with and her character is one of those girls you would like to be friends with.  I really enjoyed getting to know her and following, what was most definitely, her life changing experience.

While this series has none of the paranormal elements you may have come to love and expect from this author it doesn't mean it isn't worth reading.  If you like any of Molly Harper's other books then you will definitely get over the lack of Vampire or Werewolf because Bluegrass is the same light hearted, fun, crazy and enjoyable read that you are used to.

An added extra for fans is the audio book being narrated by Amanda Ronconi who reads all of Molly's audio formats.  She is a super narrator and I love her voice.   Well worth checking out all of Molly's books on Audio just because of Amanda's talents.  She really makes the characters stand out and the story even more fun.

If you haven't read the other Bluegrass books then don't worry too much about reading Snow Falling on Bluegrass first.  While the characters from the previous books make an appearance the books can also stand alone.  However I do highly recommend reading them all.  My only slight annoyance about this book is the release date.  Why do publishers insist on releasing books at the wrong time of the year?  When a story is based in Winter/January why release it in Autumn/Herbst?   Do they even read the book?  The title is a big giveaway!  This would have made for the perfect Christmas release!  I definitely felt like waiting till it gets colder before reading this one but Molly Harper is a pre-order author!

80) Better Homes & Hauntings by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate—he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in nineteenth-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

But Nina shows no signs of being scared away, even as she experiences some unnerving apparitions herself. And as the two of them work closely together to restore the mansion’s faded glory, Deacon realizes that he’s found someone who doesn’t seem to like his fortune more than himself—while Nina may have finally found the one man she can trust with her bruised and battered heart.

But something on the island doesn’t believe in true love…and if Nina and Deacon can’t figure out how to put these angry spirits to rest, their own love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.

My Thoughts :

I have never read a Molly Harper story that I didn't like and Better Homes & Hauntings may not be the best of her work so far but it was still an enjoyable and fun read.  With the usual witty and lovable style, this stand alone book was a pleasure to listen to due to the narrator who reads all of Molly Harper's books.  I am not sure if the book would have been as good just to read but the Audio book version was definitely a winner and I loved every minute of it.

No vampires or werewolves are involved in the making of this new release and it is the ghostly variety of paranormal that the author offers us this time around in the form of a good old haunting.  The characters are brought together on an island to renovate an old mansion belonging to the Whitney family.  The premise was a good one and it worked and didn't seem stupid while the location had the makings of a good horror movie.

There are a few scary moments in this book but the characters are fun and interesting enough to keep the goosebumps away but have you giggling as the story progresses.  The whole story flows nicely even if I did get slightly confused about the amount of time the book covers.  There are references to weeks passing and there is an obvious time lapse due to the work done/finished but it was hard to feel it as the story progressed and it felt like everything took place in a couple of weeks.

Of course there was a romance angle to this novel and it was pretty obvious from the start.  There was no doubting who was going to end up with each other but the mystery of how it would happen was what keeps you reading.  Also the ghostly mystery of the house and family was intriguing enough to keep me going till the end and I have to say I really liked the way it all played out.

All in all a great read or in this case listen that any Molly Harper fan will enjoy.  It is a stand alone so anyone who hasn't read anything by this author may want to try it and she if they like the style.  However this isn't the best representation of Molly Harper's work but it still earns a huge applause from me.  I enjoyed it and would listen to it again and would even like to meet some of the characters again sometime.

164) I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

It's Christmas in Half-Moon Hollow and newly turned vampire Iris Scanlon-Calix wants to make Gigi's first visit home from college as normal and special as possible. It's taken months for Iris to work up the nerve to spend time around her baby sister after her vampire transition, so she enlists help from Jane Jameson and Company to keep her blood-thirst under control and assure Gigi's safety.

Gigi, on the other hand, has problems of her own, including the demise of her relationship with high school sweetheart, Ben, and a looming job interview with Ophelia Lambert, the scariest potential employer in the Hollow. And then there's the small matter of the handsome, frustrating vampire who keeps appearing in Gigi's peripheral vision, then disappearing before she can talk to him.

Can the Scanlon sisters negotiate romantic problems, vampire politics, and Christmas cookie disasters and enjoy a relatively normal holiday?

My Thoughts :

This novella in the Half Moon Hollow series is one of the best Christmas presents this year!  I didn't know it was coming and it was by pure accident that I saw a friend posting about this FREE audiobook!   This is a new story, novella sized, with a Christmas theme.  All the characters you know and love make an appearance and there is also a mysterious character hanging around that the reader doesn't get to fully meet.

If you are a fan of this author and series then you really need to check this one out.  It is a great way to get into the holiday spirit and there are enough laughs to keep you happy till the rest of your presents are ready to be opened.  Molly Harper is one of my favourite authors and she never disappoints!   She is a must read author and I am really happy I got to listen to this one before Christmas.

I loved this short story and it was fun to see what Gigi and the rest of the Half Moon Hollow paranormals have been up to.  This story seems to be a little stocking filler before the next book which I am sure will follow Gigi's story.  After all there were some nice little developments in this audio book that paved the way for a lot more fun and mayhem!

I don't know if this audible book is going to stay free but at the time of writing this review it still cost nothing!  Here is the direct link !  Don't miss out on this!  If you don't usually listen to audio books then make an exception.  I don't know if this novella will be released in another form.  So make sure you spend a little of your Christmas with the Half-Moon Hollow Crew!

149) How to Run with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Caleb Graham is a werewolf by nature, a tracker by profession. He uses his “extra gifts” to find people, and not always in the most legal or ethical manner. He doesn’t care what they’ve done, or who wants them found, as long as his considerable fee is paid. He likes his life simple and uncomplicated.

Anna Moder, former physician to Caleb’s pack, happens across Caleb during a particularly violent “negotiation” that has left him bloodied and unconscious. She helps him, despite the fact that he’s cost her a car, so he insists that she stay with him on the road for a while. As they grow closer, Anna looks past the gruff exterior and and the questionable job to thoroughly decent werewolf underneath.

Anna – who is careful to edit her involvement with Caleb’s pack from their conversations – doesn’t talk about why a nice girl wants to live in the middle of frozen nowhere, but she’s obviously on the run from something. When Anna’s past collides with Caleb’s current assignment from one of his sleazier contacts, Caleb finally has to make a choice—protect his job…or his potential mate?

My Thoughts :

When I get a book to review I check the release date.  I try and read the book about four weeks before the release because I don't want to post a review too early.  However there are certain books by certain authors that I can't hold out on for long and Molly Harper is one of those writers.  I have never read a book by this author that I didn't like and it doesn't matter if it was paranormal or not.  Molly Harper's books always have that special combination inside that just make you feel good and want to come back for more.

The characters in Molly's books are always special and unforgettable and 'How to Run with a Naked Werewolf' is no exception.  Anna is lovable from the get go and her story, strength and humour make you want to give her a hug and be her friend forever.  Caleb isn't an instant hit but I warmed up to him very quickly especially with all the snuggling and sniffing.  You also get the chance to see some of the werewolves from the previous two books in this series.  It is always nice to catch up and the author does love to show us how her other characters are doing and that is fine by me!

Anna's story is one that many women can relate too or can sympathise with in some way or another.  Anna's courage and stability is a wonder and  as soon as she ends up helping Caleb you want them to be together.  It is also not a huge giveaway to say they do or they don't become a couple because these books hold no surprises in regards of who will end up with who.  It is always the story that gets them to their happy ever after that makes for an enjoyable read and the storyline in this book is just amazing.

Twists, turns and some surprises lay in store for Anna and Caleb and it is fun to ride along with them on their road trip of fugitive apprehensions, stripper fighting and organ donor kidnapping adventures.  There is, as with all of Molly's books, never a dull moment and you will find yourself not only smiling but giggling at the witty art of her storytelling.

This is a must read author for me and I can't wait for more from Molly.  She has never disappointed me yet and I doubt she ever will.  Read all her books even if they don't have any werewolves or vampires inside.  They are all amazing reads and this new upcoming release is another shining example to add to the collection.  If you haven't already read any of Molly's books I highly recommend you do asap!  These are feel good reads and are worth every penny.

How to Run with a Naked Werewolf is due for release on December 31st and is the perfect read to bring you into the New Year!

129) Rhythm & Bluegrass by Molly Harper

The Blurb :

Bonnie Turkle, multimedia historian for the Kentucky Commission of Tourism, is dispatched to Mud Creek, a tiny eastern Kentucky town, with few prospects but many oddballs, to rescue important artifacts from McBride’s Music Hall. Now fallen beyond disrepair, McBride’s was once a jewel of the early American music scene, an intersection of the country-western and rhythm and blues circuits. The former owner’s grandson, Will McBride, who also happens to be Mud Creek’s esteemed mayor, would like nothing more than to see the place bull-dozed in favor of a factory that will provide much-needed jobs to his citizens.

But Bonnie finds evidence of a legendary musical event at the music hall and her plans to turn it into a museum put Mud Creek’s economic future at risk – not to mention the growing flirtation between the two of them. If Will and Bonnie can’t find common ground, the town’s past and future will be lost.

My Thoughts :

I have been a huge fan of Molly Harper's books since I read that first Jane Jameson book.  Even her non paranormal books have been brilliant reads and I was really excited to read this second Bluegrass book.   The book manages to stand alone so it doesn't matter if you have read the first book, My Bluegrass Baby.

Set in Kentucky this series revolves around the people working for the Comission of Tourism.  This time we meet Bonnie who is a historian who is been given the job of checking out the old McBride's Music Hall before it is converted into a factory which will bring some much needed jobs and money to the town of Mud Creek.  However Bonnie reveals some amazing history behind the place that has been sitting empty and ignored and she becomes involved in trying to turn it into a museum.  Much to the despair of the citizens of Mud Creek.

The humour and fun filled writing style that fills all the Molly Harper books is also present here in Rhythm and Bluegrass.  The characters are just as likable as those in the paranormal books I love so much.  With a great plot and some interesting subject matter this is a really good read.  Yes it may lack the vampires and werewolves that readers are used to but otherwise this is a typical Molly Harper read.

I really enjoyed this one and it was just what I needed to give me a break from the fangs and fur.  I read this in record time and loved following Bonnie and Will's rocky relationship.  If you are looking for something that will make you laugh and give you that feel good feeling then look no further.  Rhythm & Bluegrass is a satisfying read and I look forward to more in the series.
