Quite a while ago I had Jazz, Fluff and Puff here as guests on Amberkatze's Book Blog. However I didn't really find out much about the author of their adventures and so today I am extremely happy to have Linda Wisdom here on the blog as my guest.
Linda's newest sexy witchy book 'Hex in High Heels' is due out on the 6th of October. I was lucky enough to read about Blair Fitzpatrick's story back in July and can highly praise and recommend it!
I love this series and hope that you will all enjoy the interview and try out Linda's books if you haven't already done so. If you are dying to get your hands on the newest release, then make sure you enter the contest at the end of the interview!
------------
Amber - Welcome to Amberkatze's Book Blog! It is great to have you here as a guest!
Your newest book, Hex in High Heels, is out soon! Can you tell us a little bit about the story this time around?
Linda - Thanks for having me, Amber! Hex in High Heel is Blair's story. Ever since Samhain night when Jake showed his true furry self, Blair's been hot for his bod, but he's been stepping back. But who can resist a sassy red haired witch? And now there's some new residents on the mountain, Weres taking over the resort up the road and wanting to take over the town too. Naturally, Blair and Stasi aren't going to allow that. Even worse, Jake's mother is involved along with his brother, who's the Alpha. And they're wolves, not dogs, so the question is how Jake ended up a cuddling Were Border collie. Add to the mix some elves for the town's winter festival that aren't your cute Santa type elves and witch against Were and you have a lot going on. Needless to say, Jake's firmly on Blair's side. Fluff and Puff also make an interesting appearance and Horace even gets to have some fun getting back at the Weres.
Amber - How did you come up with the idea for the books about Jazz, Stasi and Blair? Was it a long process or did it just come to you?
Linda - It just came to me. My first thought was 700 year old witches who were banished from the Witches Academy for 100 years and still haven't made it back. Jazz came to mind first and the others just followed. More of them have been speaking up and thankfully, not all at once!
Amber - What kind of research have you had to do for the books so far? Spent alot of time with any witches? Vamps? Or magical bunny slippers?
Linda -LOL! Well, my fans know the bunny slippers are tattooed on my ankle and I'm getting Horace tattooed on my other ankle this week. I have friend who are witches, wouldn't be surprised if a few others might not be vamps. And my reference library is always growing.
Amber - How many more books will there be in the series? Will all of the witches mentioned get their own story?
Linda - With luck, I could end up with 16 or more books. That also depends on my publisher. Yes, all the witches mentioned so far will be showing up.
Amber - I know you have written alot of books over the years. Did you always wanted to be an author? Which genre do you like writing the most?
Linda -Oh yes, I've wanted to write ever since I can remember. I love paranormal, have since I wrote my first one for Harlequin American in 1990. But I also love suspense and humor so it's great I can incorporate both in my books now along with the magick.
Amber - Something I have always wondered about is how authors come up with the names for their characters. How do you pick the names you use in your books?
Linda - Sometimes, I think they name themselves. I see them in my head and a name just comes to mind.
Amber - There are so many online sites eg, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace etc to get in touch with fans. Which sites are you signed up with? Is it hard to keep up with them all? Do you think they are good?
Linda - I'm on all three and my website is also up and running. www.lindawisdom.com I think they're good because it's fun to interact with my readers. Find out what they like and don't like. Plus it's fun to talk to them on any subject.
Amber - What is the easiest and hardest part about being an author?
Linda - Easiest? Whoa, seeing your work out there. Knowing someone else will be reading it. Hardest can be the writing process if something doesn't work right and you need to find out why.
Amber - How do you relax? Do you have any hobbies?
Linda - I love going to the movies. I also do a lot of reading. We have a couple of Old Towns near us that's fun to wander through along with wineries. I used to do a lot of needlepoint and I'm tempted to get back to it. I also collect the Halloween Barbies, Pocket Dragons and other magickal figurines.
Amber - Alot of authors have 'soundtracks' for their books. Is there any music that has influenced your books?
Linda -It was golden oldies for Jazz, romantic music such as waltzes for Stasi, celtic for Blair and fellow Witchy Chick Lisa Di Croll offered up Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace for Jake. Maggie's book, the next one, will be what I like to call ear bleeding rock, namely for the hero, and zydeco for her.
Amber - What books do you enjoy reading? Do you have any favourite authors/series?
Linda -So many there. Yasmine Galenorn, Annette Blair, Candace Havens, Cathy Clamp, because I've loved their books from the beginning. Charlaine Harris, Nancy Haddock, Kimberly Raye. But I also enjoy James Lee Burke, John Sanford and I'm reading a lot of YA paranormal and urban fantasy now.
Amber - If you could be any paranormal creature, what would you be and why?
Linda - A witch and I'd make sure to use my power for good. My house would stay cleaner :}.
Amber - Thank you for visiting Amberkatze's Book Blog! I hope you will come back again!
Linda - Thank you for having me, Amber! I'll come back any time you ask.
